PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric vehicle drive unit that can reduce noise leaking from the electric vehicle drive unit, can facilitate wiring between a VVVF inverter and a main motor, and can effectively utilize a mounting space for an apparatus of an electric vehicle. SOLUTION: The electric vehicle drive unit is characterized in that: the drive unit comprises the inverter that converts DC power to AC power, and the main motor that is driven by the AC power fed from the inverter; and the inverter is arranged in the vicinity of the main motor.
