PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem that, when mounting a radio communication function to a digital still camera, a peak capacity of a current exceeds its limit, and an operable time is extremely shortened, thus causing the function to be brought into a non-operable state. SOLUTION: An imaging device performing radio communication with an external device includes an imaging means for performing imaging operation in a plurality of operation modes each having different power consumption, a transmission output set means for setting a transmission output to the external device, a transmission means for transmitting to the external device with the transmission output set by the above transmission output set means, and an operation mode shift means for shifting the operation mode of the imaging means according to the transmission output set by the transmission output set means.
