HIGH-YIELD METHODS FOR PRODUCING LOW-DENSITY MICROSPHERES

Low-density microspheres are synthesized by processing precursors at predetermined temperatures with a controlled time-temperature history, such that very high yields of low-density microspheres are obtained. The chemical properties of the components of the precursors allow calculation of the behavior of the precursor such that operating conditions and components may be selected to optimize the yield of the product and the product properties.
