PURPOSE:To utilize effectively a video recording medium and to store lots of automatic answering messages by providing 1st specific control means and a 2nd specific control means to the telephone system. CONSTITUTION:At first the automatic answering mode is started and the video capability is reduced from CIF to QCIF together with the start of the automatic answering mode (S1). Whether or not the call is received is discriminated and when the arrival of the call negating (NO) its reply, the arrival of the call is awaited (S2). When the call arrives, whether or not there is a room in a video recording medium is discriminated (S3). When there is a room in the video recording medium whose replay is affirmative (YES), an automatic answering message is recorded on a video recording medium by the video capability QCIF (S4). When the reply is negative (NO), that is, there is not room in the video recording medium, the video capability is made zero and only a voice signal is recorded on the automatic answering message (S5). Since the automatic answering message is recorded while its capability is reduced in this way, the video recording medium is utilized effectively. |
