PURPOSE:To obtain the subject compound useful as a coating, an ink, etc., with hardly any waste liquor by subjecting (meth)acrylic acid and alcohols to esterifying reaction in the presence of a specific polymerization inhibitor and a specified esterifying catalyst, washing the resultant reactional product with the reactional water and removing both the polymerization inhibitor and the esterifying catalyst. CONSTITUTION:(C) Acrylic or methacrylic acid (e.g. acrylic acid or methacrylic acid) and (D) alcohols (preferably epsilon-caprolactone-modified glycerols, etc.) are subjected to the dehydration esterifying reaction in the presence of (A) 0.1-5 pts.wt. polymerization inhibitor (preferably 2-methyl-1-phenol-4-sulfonic acid) and (B) 0.5-5 pts.wt. esterifying catalyst (preferably benzenesulfonic acid or p-toluenesulfonic acid) in which at least either is soluble in water. The resultant reactional mixture is then washed with reactional water separated from the reactional system to remove the components (A) and (B). Thereby, the objective compound is obtained. Furthermore, benzene, etc., are preferred as a solvent for the dehydration esterifying reaction. The reactional temperature is preferably 60-90 deg.C and the reactional time is preferably 1-10hr. |
