PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a charging device capable of charging movable equipment having a battery such as a mobile phone, a portable terminal device and a portable medical instrument and charging a built-in cell in a charger in a short period of time. SOLUTION: This portable charging device 1 has a power supply converting circuit 8, an auxiliary charging circuit 9, a diode 10, a switch 11, a main charging circuit 12, and a control unit 13. This technology shortenens a time for connecting the portable charging device with an AC power supply (a commercial power supply). While a portable appliance (such as a mobile phone or a portable terminal device), is connected with the commercial power supply, both an auxiliary secondary battery built-in main device and a secondary battery built-in a portable appliance can be simultaneously charged. Besides, when the commercial power supply is cut off, a user can perform charging without concerning about a charging time by charging the secondary battery of the portable appliance by the power of the auxiliary secondary battery built-in main device when the main device and the portable appliance are connected with each other.
