PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image correspondent position detector capable of accurately recognizing the boundary of a subject and a range finder equipped with the same. SOLUTION: This image correspondent position detector is equipped with an extraction means 112 for extracting an extraction image with a specified size from each of a pair of images, a correlation computing means 114 for preparing a sequence of correlative values while successively shifting the extracting position to compute an integer correspondent position and a decimal correspondent position, a measured correlative value computing means 118 for computing measured correlative values relative to a partial area in the integer correspondent position, an estimated correlative value computing means 116 for computing estimated correlative values relative to the partial area on the assumption that the extraction images are uniformly shifted from each other in pixels due to the difference between the integer correspondent position and the decimal correspondent position, and a degree-of-correspondence computing means 120 for computing the degree of correspondence between arbitrary pixels in the partial area based on the measured correlative values and on the estimated correlative values. |
