PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of preventing image disturbance caused by NOx, without shortening the life of an image carrier even when using a charging charger as a charging device. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is configured such that a photoreceptor 3 is charged by the charging charger 4, and images are written on the charged photoreceptor 3, so that an electrostatic latent image is formed; the electrostatic latent image is rendered visible by a developing device 6 and it is transferred to a transfer material; toner sticking to the surface of the image carrier passed through a transfer location where the toner image is transferred is removed by a cleaning device 8; a lubricant is applied to the photoreceptor 3 by a lubricant application device 13. After an image formation job, the image forming apparatus executes a post-job application mode in which the photoreceptor 3 is rotated and the lubricant application device 13 is actuated.
