PURPOSE: To obtain a catalyst capable of hydrogenating TAA into TAA-01 with a high conversion rate and a high selectivity coefficient by incorporating chromium, zinc, manganese, barium, silicon and nickel into copper by specific proportions and activating the resultant product with hydrogen. CONSTITUTION: 4-Hydroxy-2,2,6,6-tetramethyl piperidine is produced by hydrogenating 4-oxo-2,2,6,6-tetramethyl piperidine in a molten state or a dissolved state at 60-200 deg.C under 10-300 bar hydrogen pressure in the presence of a catalyst which comprises 20-68 wt.% copper, 0-40 wt.% chromium, 0-60 wt.% zinc. 0-5% wt.% manganese, 0-12 wt.% barium, 0-15 wt.% silicon and 0-10 wt.% nickel or the basis of the oxidic catalyst mass and is activated by hydrogen or a hydrogen-containing mixture. |
