PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyester for a pressure-sensitive adhesive suitably used for a pressure-sensitive adhesive composition capable of forming an adhesive layer excellent in tackiness, close adhesion with a substrate material, heat resistance, moist heat resistance and optical characteristics, and further a laminate material comprising the pressure-sensitive adhesive composition containing the polyester for the pressure-sensitive adhesive and an optical member. SOLUTION: This polyester for the pressure-sensitive adhesive is prepared by reacting (A) a polycarboxylic acid component containing an aromatic dicarboxylic acid (a1) with (B) a polyol component containing a diol (b1) having a hydrocarbon group in its side chain and (C) a polyvalent amine component.
