PURPOSE:To simply obtain the subject compound useful as a muscle relaxant in high yield by reacting a 4-substituted propiophenone with a cyclic amine and a polymethylene glycol mono-lower alkyl ether. CONSTITUTION:4-Ethylpropiophenone of formula I is made to react with a cyclic amine of formula II [Z is (CH2)n; (n) is 0 or 1] or its salt and a polymethyleneglycol mono-lower alkyl ether of formula III [R is 1-3C lower alumone; (m) is 1-7] in the presence of an acid catalyst (e.g. hydrochloric acid) in a solvent (e.g. methanol) to provide the objective substance of formula IV. The compound of formula II and the compound of formula III are used in amounts of 1.0-2.5mol and 1-5mol, based on 1mol compound of formula I, respectively. The compound of the formula IV can be obtained using inexpensive raw materials free from irritation, especially free from danger of carcinogenicity. |
