According to an embodiment of the present invention, an image projecting device senses a distance with respect to an image projection region where an image is projected and determines an image projecting state including a state with respect to at least one of the image projecting region and a space between the image projecting device and the image projecting region based on the sensed distance. The image projecting device projects an image onto the image projecting region based on the determined image projecting state. Therefore, the image projecting device can provide a pleasant viewing environment to a user.
