In this invention, a device and method for image correction for a camcorder are provided. The device has a filter to remove a noise component from digital image input data, a mask processing device to calculate the differences between a pixel value of the image data which is obtained from the filter and the respectively adjacent vertical and horizontal pixel values, formation of the absolute values of the calculated differences and addition of the formed absolute values, to capture the edge data to select an exact characteristic point of the image data from the filter, a circuit to define representative points to select a maximum value in each movement vector capture area in each raster image in response to the edge data from the mask processing device and to define the positions of the selected maximum values as representative point data, and a correlation calculation device for input of edge data from the mask processing device and the representative point data from the circuit to define representative points and to calculate a correlation of the input data in a search area with desired area boundaries. |
