PURPOSE:To provide the optical recording medium having high reflectivity, good environmental durability and good recording sensitivity by forming a recording layer on a transparent substrate, then subjecting this recording layer to heating and/or heat treatment to orient the recording layer. CONSTITUTION:This optical recording medium consists of the transparent substrate 1, the recording layer 2, an adhesive layer 3, a protective substrate 4 and guide grooves 11. The recording layer consists of org. dyestuff and is oriented with one phase. The method for orienting the recording layer with one phase is attained by subjecting the recording layer consisting of the org. dyestuff formed in an amorphous state to the heating and/or heat treatment. The org. dyestuff which can be used is not particularly limited, insofar as the dyestuff has orientability. The dyestuff which is easily orientable in two-dimension is more preferable. More specifically, cyanin phthalocyanine, naphthalocyanine, etc., are more adequate. |
