A photographic silver halide print-out emulsion having silver halide grains containing occluded trivalent or tervalent metal ions contains a halogen acceptor and an aldehyde or aldehyde precursor, such as formaldehyde, glutaraldehyde crotonaldehyde, glyoxal, succinaldehyde fumaric dialdehyde, acetaldehyde, benzaldehyde, terephthalaldehyde, paraformaldehyde, sodium formaldehyde bisulphite or paraldehyde. The halogen acceptor is a urazole or thiosemicarbazide and metal ions occluded are Bi, Rh, Ir, Pt and Os. The emulsion may be coated and the material printed out or after a short exposure it may be heated and then photodeveloped. The aldehydes increase incubation stability and give increased D max and decreased D min and high speed when used for photodevelopment. |
