[Also in Divisions H2 and H3] A method of welding tungsten leads C to a boron-doped silicon carbide single crystal thermistor B which may be generally similar to that described in Specification 990,417, comprises the steps of placing the lead-thermistor assembly A between two electrically-heated anvils, monitoring the changing resistance of the assembly as it is heated, passing a controlled changing welding current pulse through the assembly when its resistance reaches a predetermined value, monitoring the pulse and finally terminating it when it has reached a predetermined value. The predetermined values of resistance and welding current are experimentally determined to produce uniform welds for mass production. A welding circuit for carrying out the method is described, Fig. 2 (not shown). |
