[Also in Division E2] A cradle for lifting building materials into the spaces between adjacent floors and tall buildings comprises a load supporting portion 1, Fig. 1, and a counterweight 8 supported by pivoted arms 7 and a cable. When the cradle is unloaded the weight is adjusted to the position shown at A, Fig. 4, and the cradle adopts a horizontal position. The weight is lowered to the position shown at D, C, E, Fig. 4, when the cradle is loaded. Wheels 20, Fig. 1, allow the cradle to run along a floor as it is lowered. The cradle is loaded by sliding bars 19 out of lugs 10 and lowering it over a palletized load. Adjustable L-shaped clamping bars 25 are provided for loads which do not fill the cradle.
