[Also in Division F1] A system for removing vapours from a movable tank comprises an upright container located adjacent one side of the tank above the maximum possible fuel level and connected to the interior of the tank adjacent the upper surface by conduits which connect the upper portion of the container with the near side of the tank and the lower portion of the container with the far side of the tank. A valve arrangement 30 contains check valves one of which admits air into tube 28 if a partial vacuum develops in the tank, a further check valve vents the tank at a higher range of tank pressures and a third check valve connects tube 28 to tube 34 in a lower range of tank pressures. Tube 34 communicates with vapour storing and consuming devices (not shown). In another embodiment the containers and conduits are formed integrally from flat polymeric mouldings, e.g. of polyethylene. The containers may be mounted diagonally across the tank from one another or a container can be mounted at each corner of a tank or a tank having a narrow upper surface has only one container. |
