As shown, a 4-phase, 8-bit time system comprises 4 NOR gates A-D and a starting NOR gate S. A gate turns true one bit time after all its inputs become false. The system operates with one and two gates true alternately, shifting round the ring A-D; each stage is on for three bit times as seen from the sequence DA, A, AB, B, BC, C, CD, D. In a modification (Fig. 2, not shown) using 8 stages other than S, each stage is true for 7 bit times and the phase separation between opposed clock signals is I bit time. |
