BUTT WELDING METHOD AND ITS EQUIPMENT FOR METALLIC MATERIALS

PURPOSE:To directly determine the welding quality in the real time at the time of butt welding of metallic materials and to prevent or minimize the occurrence of defective welding due to welding target positional deviation. CONSTITUTION:When a butt part 4 of the metallic materials 2 and 3 made in a butt state is locally heated by a laser beam 5 to perform butt welding, while strength of at least one each of wavelengths of elements contained relatively more than the mating metallic materials 2 and 3 among wavelengths of respective elements contained in welding plasma 7 generated on a local heating part is measured, butt welding is performed. The laser beam 5 as a local heating source to locally heat and melt the butt part of the metallic materials 2 and 3 made in the butt state and plasma sensors 8 and 9 to measure strength of at least one each of wavelengths of the elements contained relatively more than the mating metallic materials 2 and 3 among wavelengths of the respective elements contained in the welding plasma 7 generated on the local heating part are provided.
