Cooling apparatus provides a more intensive cooling action on the molten metal in the mould and has heat conductive pipes to remove heat from the walls of the vessel. The heat-receiving ends of these are turned towards the molten or glowing metal and the hat-dissipating ends are in terminal contact with a heat conveying substance.
