[Also in Division B8] A stabilizing system for carbonated liquids in a bottling &c. machine, which reduces foaming of the liquids, comprises a carbonating liquid producer or storage tank 1 feeding carbonated liquid under pressure through a pipe 2 to a pump 3, where the pressure is increased above the equilibrium pressure of the liquid. A bypass relief valve 9 returns excess liquid from the output to the input side of the pump 3. The liquid is piped under the increased pressure to a pressure-reducing and temperature control unit 4. The pressure-reduction in the unit 4 may be effected by passing the carbonated liquid through a coil &c.; the temperature control may effect pasteurization by first heating and then cooling the liquid. The liquid leaves the pressure-reducing &c. unit 4 through a pipe 5 at saturated equilibrium pressure and in a stabilized condition; the carbonated liquid is fed through a distributer 6 to filling heads 7, whence it passes at a further reduced counterpressure into bottles 8. Finally, the remaining pressure in the bottles 8 is shifted to atmosphere. |
