[Also in Division F2] In a multiple spindle machine tool comprising a spindle carrier 14 journalled in a frame 13 for indexing movements to a plurality of positions, a plurality of spindles 18 journalled in the carrier 14, equal in number to the plurality of positions, and a plurality of slides 21 mounted on the frame 13 and each disposed for sliding movement generally radially toward and away from a respective one of the spindles 18, drive means comprise a driving pinion 26, on a driving shaft 25, meshing an idler ring gear 24 which meshes and is supported radially by driven pinions 28 rotatably mounted in the frame 13. The gear 24 has parallel sides which are located between thrust surfaces provided on the frame 13. |
