1326544 Extruded hose AMERACE ESNA CORP 7 Aug 1970 [14 Aug 1969] 38305/70 Heading B5A [Also in Division F2] A hose incorporates a longitudinally extending flexible extruded tubular member 10 normally having an oblong inside transverse crosssection defining a flattened ribbon-like condition along its entire length and being capable of assuming a flexible non-flattened substantially cylindrical condition along substantially its entire length in response to fluid of predetermined pressure introduced therein and being made of a material having elastic memory (defined in Specification) whereby upon interruption of said pressure the elastic memory of the material causes the tubular member to return to its normal flattened condition to positively expel fluid therefrom. The hose may be reinforced, e.g. with nylon 8 and have an outer covering 12. The dimensions D1, D2 are preferably in the ratio of at least 4 to 1. Suitable materials specified include elastomers and elastomeric compounds, both thermoplastic and thermosetting and in particular plasticized p.v.c. and natural and/or synthetic rubber compounds. The tubular member may be extruded in its oblong form or in a circular form and cured in oblong form. The reinforcement and outer covering may be applied with the inner tubular member expanded to circular cross-section by internal pressure and/or external vacuum. |
