A key-freed buckle for restraining belts of violent patients comprises a pair of belt-guiding walls 18 between which a clasp 21 is pivoted at 22, at least one belt gripper 50, 54 beneath the clasp gripping the belt against retaining members 30, 34 in the closed position, and a latch-bolt 66 which engages an abutment 38 to hold the clasp closed until retracted by a key 62. The belt-gripper may have a serrated edge, and the belt-retaining members castellated edges. If desired, only a single pair of gripper and retaining members may be employed.</p> |
