A lock-switch assembly for securing against relative movement a closure member and a member to which the closure member can be fastened in its closed position, comprises an anchor member 40, means for securing said anchor member to the surface of one of said members, a bolt housing 42 secured to said anchor member in a manner allowing limited relative movement therebetween, a bolt 68 in the housing movable between a first position lying within the housing and a second position projecting out from said housing into locking association with the other of said members, a switch 58 and means associated with said bolt housing for actuating said switch upon relative movement between the housing and the anchor member when said bolt is in said locking association. In the arrangement according to Figs 1, 4, 5 and 7 in which a lock switch 30 is arranged to lock lower and upper sashes 32, 38 of a window 34 to a frame 36 thereof, the lock switch is secured to the frame 36 and the bolt housing 42 is provided with a bore 44 for a slidable plug 46 which carries the locking bolt 68. The bolt is engageable in one position of the plug with a bolt housing 70 provided on the movable sash 32 and is retained in that position by a spring-loaded lug 118 on the plug, the lug being releasable, to allow the bolt to be withdrawn, by a key operable lock. The bolt housing 70 houses a spring loaded bolt 74 which is projected into a housing 76 in an upper sash 38 when the bolt 68 is moved to the locking position. The bolt housing is retained on the anchor member 40 by means of a bolt 98 and against a spring 106 which permits lifting of the bolt housing from the anchor member if an opening force is applied to the sash 32. The anchor member 40 includes a switch housing portion in which is located the switch 58 which is actuated wherever the bolt housing moves upwardly against the spring 106, the switch being connected to means for actuating an alarm (not shown). In another arrangement, Fig. 9 the switch lock incorporates an accoustical alarm. As shown, the unit is mounted on a lower sash 202 and includes a locking plug 214 having a locking bolt 220 which is engageable in a recess 222 of a side member of an upper sash 206. The bolt housing is retained on an anchor plate 208 by bolts 218 against springs, and includes a portion housing an alarm generator mounted below a grille 216 and powered by a battery mounted in a clip made of an electrically insulating material and normally retained in a position, in which the alarm is not actuated, by a spring loaded lug in the anchor plate. If an opening force is applied to the window to cause the housing to lift from the anchor plate, the battery clip is freed from the lug and is biassed towards the locking plug by a spring arrangement to complete an electrical circuit from the battery to the alarm generator which operates until the plug 214 is retracted from its locking position to move the clip to the position in which it is retained by the spring loaded lug on the anchor plate.
