<p>A web edge trimming apparatus involves a web support roll to receive a paper web. The roll surface has at least one ring shaped groove next to one end of the roll. Nozzles point a fluid jet under pressure towards the groove against the outer surface of the web when in operation. The web is then pressed against the groove in an edge trimming position. The same arrangement may include a groove at each end of the roll, jets to trim both edges in operation and a doctor mechanism to clean the grooves. Further, a web transport device may be installed to move the web in an edge trimming position over the roll.</p> |
