Dc welding generator - with three phase ac input and adjustable output

To obtain an output with low standing dc and superimposed pulses i.e. for welding thin sheet, one limb of the three phase transformer has both in the primary and secondary sides an independent tap changing system; brought into operation by a two pole change over switch, from the ganged tap changers of the other two phases. The individual phase rectifiers are star connected and a continuously variable smoothing choke following the star point adds further versatility.
