Starter for IC engine - has turn pinion meshing with toothed wheel as part of locking mechanism

A starter for i.c. engines comprises a staring motr with a turn pinion rotatably and movably mounted upon its drive shaft. The turn pinion is coupled to a collet via a free-wheeling arrangement. The collet is placed upon a coarse thread section of the drive shaft. The longitudinally movable magnetic armature of a coaxially mounteY relay is operationaly coupled with the collet and the contact bridge of the relay in the current circuit of the starting motor. The collet is part of a locking mechanism effected by a turn pinion which meshes in a toothed wheel of the i.c. engine. The pinion meshes until the engine has started.
