<p>1507101 Punching apparatus GAF CORP 28 Jan 1976 [10 April 1975] 03423/76 Heading B4B A roll of sheet material, e.g. roofing material, 1 is perforated by a punch 6 which acts radially of the roll to simultaneously form a set of holes in the wound layers. The punch is preferably actuated pneumatically under the control of a valve 13. The roll 1 is supported on a platform 11 for axial and/or rotational movement. A plate 14 is urged against the roll by pneumatic or mechanical pressure. Several similar punches (6a-6d), Fig. 2 (not shown), may be mounted side-by-side for simultaneous actuation. In a more detailed embodiment, Fig. 3, the roll is introduced between a pair of arcuate clamp plates 42, 62 by a turret 110. The plates 42, 62 are provided on frames 28, 48 movable pneumatically towards the roll. Each frame 28, 48 includes a set of pneumatically actuated punches 84-89.</p> |
