A bimetal thermostatic actuation, esp. for space vehicles, has a spiral bimetal arrangement. The actuator has two bimetal spirals (13, 15) wound in the same sense but connected in opposition and attached to each other at their outer ends. The inner ends of the spirals are fixed to a stationary member (11) and the controlled member (18) respectively. The controlled member carries a sun-roof (21) which protects the actuator against sunlight. Pref. the two spirals are wound coaxially next to each other and the inner end of one is attached to a fixed tube, whilst the inner end of the other is attached to a shaft which moves inside the tube.
