Feed and braking mechanism is for controlling the roll of paper used for copies or prints in copying or printing appts. The paper feed is controlled by the printing operation. The paper is wound on a spool with a rotating centre and a brake pad at one side. When the paper is pulled taut and being transported to the printing area through rollers a sensing pad on an arm lifts the brake pad of the drum brake surface. When the transport stops the paper falls slack, the sensor weight drops and the hinged arm swings the brake pad against the drum.
