<p>PURPOSE:To reduce the breadth deficiency in the top and bottom of the material, by previously computing and memorizing the predictable breadth deficiency pattern in the top and bottom of the material when the material is to be rough rolled by the hot strip mill, and by controlling the presetting of gap of vertical rolls in each stand according to the rolling condition. CONSTITUTION:First of all, the rolling condition is settled 8 for the hot strip mill constituted of the heating furnace 4, the vertical mill 5, the horizontal mill 6 and the finishing mill line 7. The predictable breadth deficiency pattern in the top and bottom of the slab is previously computed according to a specified reference and is memorized by the memory unit 9; this memory unit 9 produces the suitable breadth deficiency pattern correspondingly to the rolling condition. Next, the roll gap pattern of the vertical rolls suitable for the breadth deficiency pattern is computed by the arithmetic unit 10 for the roll gap of the vertical rolls, and is memorized in the memory unit 11 for the roll gap of the vertical rolls. When the position detector 13 for the steel sheet produces a detecting signal, the controller 12 for the roll gap of the vertical rolls controls the gap of vertical rolls depending on the output (the pattern of roll gap of vertical rolls) of the memory unit 11.</p> |
