A cathode ray tube is improved by disposing a dynamic convergence component (8) at a location so as to minimize the electric power required for convergence correction, with respect to the positions of the deflection yoke (5) and the static convergence component (6). A coma control component (7), if provided, is located outside the axial width of the dynamic component (8).

The center plane (87) of the dynamic convergence component (8) is located within a range of 3d to either side of the center plane of a gap (11) of width d between two electrodes (36 and 37).
