PURPOSE:To suppress the diffusion of solved zincate ions and to improve the cycle life, by making a metallic porous body as a collector preventing that the surface of a negative electrode after an active material is filled presents a slubility in an alkaline solution, and covering the negative electrode by a specific hydroxide. CONSTITUTION:A metallic porous body is made as a collector, and the surface or the clearances in the holes after an active material is filled is made to present no solubility actually in an alkaline solution. And a solution is churned strongly, and an elctritic deposition is carried out in a pressure reducing condition, so as to separate the zinc evenly up to the inside of a copper porous body. As a result, a negative electrode 1 can be covered by a hydroxide which generates no oxidization and reduction in the potential scope of the charge and discharge reaction of a battery. Consequently, the movement of the zincate ions on the surface of the electrode can be suppressed stably for a long period, and a variation of the electrode form generated following the repeating of the charge and discharge cycle can be prevented, so as to prevent the generation of the reduction of utilizing rate of a zinc active material. This zinc electrode 1 is combined with a nickel electrode 2 through a separator 3, and a battery is formed by making the water solution including 1wt.% of potassium hydroxide as the electrolyte solution. |
