PURPOSE:To reduce adverse influence to a motor-driven compressor by automatically regulating a pause time in response to a load to decrease the pulsation of a line current and the torque variation of the compressor without loading a power transistor. CONSTITUTION:An input from a commercial power source 1 is converted by a converter 2 to a DC, further converted by an inverter 3 to an AC to be supplied to a motor-driven compressor 4. A series of refrigerating cycle 8 is composed of a motor-driven compressor 4, an indoor heat exchanger 5, a pressure reducing unit 6 and an outdoor heat exchanger 7. Current detecting means 9 is inserted to between the converter 2 and the inverter 3, and an input current to the inverter 3 is detected. A pause time provided between conducting periods so that a pair of transistors of the same phase of the inverter 3 are not simultaneously conducted is regulated by the output of the detecting means 9.
