PURPOSE:To provide a serial numbering device capable of executing functional serial numbering independently of the sort of a document by optionally changing the printing position of a serial number, the number of printing digits, the shape of a character, and the like on a document obtained after character recognizing processing. CONSTITUTION:When the character recognition of a document 1 is executed by a character reading part 5, a serial numbering part 14 executes serial numbering by an optional form in accordance with fixed printing information. Namely a printing position, the number of printing digits, the shape of a printing character, and the like are selected in accordance with the sort of each document and stored in a printing information storing part 16. Since a printing control part 15 drives the serial numbering part 14 based upon the information, serial numbers can be printed out on three positions or more e.g. by adjusting the number of position of characters in each serial number or the printing position. |
