A device for retaining a cord (11) or other elongated flexible element against relative longitudinal movement including a first member (12) to which an actuating member (17) is mounted for relative pivotal movement between locking and released positions, and a locking member (18) carried by the actuating member (17) for swinging movement therewith, and for swinging movement relative thereto, to clamp a cord (17) or cords against the first member (12), with the latter preferably containing a recess having an essentially curving wall (30) against which the locking member (18) presses the elongated element in locking condition, and with the curving wall (30) preferably being defined by a series of teeth (90) following a curving pattern. The device may lock two spaced cords or cord ends, which may be directed to properly located positions between the gripping members by reception within spaced locating recesses in the locking member and by reception at opposite sides of a locating projection (81) carried by the first mentioned member (18). |
