PURPOSE:To improve the laser oscillation efficiency by having a laser medium having its end faces formed so as to be inclined at a predetermined angle theta with respect to a smooth plane, and providing at least the end faces of the laser medium with a refracting medium having a refractive index which makes, an angle phi formed by the refracted light of a light entering the laser medium with the smooth plane of the laser medium, identical with said angle theta, thereby eliminating the region in the laser medium which does not contribute to the laser oscillation. CONSTITUTION:With an angle phi formed by an internally refracted light L with an optical axis O and an angle theta formed by the end faces 1, 3 of a laser medium 2 with the optical axis O, caps 11 are liquid-sealingly fitted over both ends of the laser medium 2 by a seal material 12, and optically transparent windows 13 are formed respectively in the parts of the caps 11 opposed to the respective end faces 1, 3 of the laser medium 2. Since, within the caps 11, a refracting medium 14 having a refractive index n2 making theta=phi is contained, in the laser medium 2, the region which does not contribute to the laser oscillation can be eliminated. In addition, it becomes possible to make all the light paths of the light L leaving from the laser medium 2 equal, and the setting of the length of the laser medium 2 can freely be made. |
