PURPOSE:To improve disintegrability by spray-drying and granulating a slurry using water as a solvent and regulating the water content of the resulting granulated powder to a specified value. CONSTITUTION:alpha-Al2O3 as an Al2O3 source, Na2CO3 as an Na2O source, MgO and Li2O as MgO and Li2O sources as additives are weighed by prescribed amts., mixed, pulverized, dried, calcined and pulverized. Water is added to the resulting powder to prepare a slurry and this slurry is spray-dried at 80-120 deg.C with a spray drier and granulated to obtain granulated beta-Al2O3 powder having 2.0-4.0wt.% water content. This granulated powder is molded by isostatic pressing and fired to give a beta-Al2O3 sintered body. |
