摘要 PURPOSE:To provide the optical information reader for which the mere adjustment of the relative positions of the optical elements on the same plane with each other is necessitated and with which mass productivity is excellent and a drastic cost reduction is possible. CONSTITUTION:A photodetector 4 is produced by using a semiconductor production technique on the front surface of an Si substrate 6 and a hologram beam splitter 5 is produced by using an IC process technique. A sub-mount 3 mounted with a semiconductor laser 2 is aligned and mounted onto the Si substrate 6. The Si substrate 6 and the objective lens 7 are mounted atop 13 a light transmittable block 1. More specifically, an operation to adjust the angle between the datum plane 9 of the Si substrate 6 and a reference line 1 corresponding to the other end edge in the longitudinal direction on the front surface 13 of the light transmittable block 1, i.e., to make an adjustment to parallel the datum plane 9 and the reference line 10 is carried out. The semiconductor laser 2 and the objective lens 7 are aligned by taking care in such a manner that the parting distance between the semiconductor laser 2 and the objective lens 7 attains the same value as a design value and thereafter, both are mounted atop 13 the light trasmittable block 1.
