The present invention relates to a supply circuit for an electrical load such as a discharge lamp, in particular for a motor vehicle headlight. The invention aims in particular to limit the number of high-voltage (high-tension) components in the circuit. The primary (12) of the transformer (5) is connected, respectively, by its cold point by a first resonant switch (7a) to earth, and by its other terminal, by a second resonant switch (7b), to a positive voltage. Each resonant switch includes a switching element, a capacitor and a diode. In the ignition mode, the two switches (7a and 7b) operate in phase opposition. In holding mode, the second switch (7b) is permanently open. Application: Ignition and holding of a discharge lamp. <IMAGE>
