A method of treating HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) infection in a patient comprises administering a compound comprising a targeting portion to target the compound to a CD4 positive cell and a cytotoxic portion capable of destroying the CD4 positive cell when the compound is adjacent to or internalised by the said cell. HIV particles, in the absence of CD4 positive cells, have no host to infect and therefore are rapidly cleared from the body of the infected host. |
