<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a medicinal composition containing a specific imidazole derivative as an active ingredient, capable of being well absorbed in digestive tracts and rapidly changed into the active compound, having a strong angiotensin II-antagonizing action, and useful as a medicine for treating and/or preventing hypertension, etc. SOLUTION: This imidazole derivative of the formula (R<1> is a lower alkyl; R<2> is a lower alkanoyl; R<3> , R<4> are each a lower alkyl, or R<3> , R<4> are bound to their ends each other to form a 3-6C alkylene group) or its pharmacologically acceptable salt, preferably 2-n-propyl-5-acetyl-3-[2'-(1H-tetrazol-5-yl)biphenyl-4-yl]- methyl-4,5,6,7-tetrahydroimidazo[4,5-C]pyridine-4-carboxylic acid.(3-pentyl) oxycarbonyloxymethyl ester, etc., as an active ingredient. The derivative is obtained by reacting a compound of formula II with a compound of formula III (X is a reactive residue) and subsequently removing the protecting group from the reaction product.</p> |
