<p>A tangential flow separator allowing improved separation of contaminants from a base fluid by providing a settlement zone in the fluid path between a tangential flow separation zone and the decontaminated fluid outlet. The separator includes a separation chamber (15) defined by a substantially circular outer wall (20) extending along an axis (12) of the chamber between a first end and a second end of the chamber, an inlet (25) adapted to direct fluid into the chamber in a substantially tangential direction, an outlet (30) located at or close to the chamber axis, a settlement chamber (40) surrounding the outlet (30), having a substantially circular outer wall (42) concentric with the separation chamber outer wall (20) and extending along the axis (12) part way between the first and second ends of the separation chamber (15).</p> |
