OUTLINE GENERATING METHOD AND SELECTION INDICATING METHOD FOR CLOSED CURVE OF OPTIONAL SHAPE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correct a node link diagram through the moving of a node without the necessity of concerning the varying of a link by maintaining the topology of a node link diagram. SOLUTION: In order to generate the outline of the closed curve of an optional shape, a computer controlled display system generates a first simple curve with the shape characteristic of an optionally shaped curve at a prescribed distance on the first side of an optionally shaped curve and generates a second simple curve with the shape characteristic of an optionally shaped curve at a prescribed distance on the second side of an optionally shaped curve. Then, which of the first and second simple curves is longer is decided to display a longer one as an outline around the optionally shaped curve. An outline making process is used for purposes excepting for route change of the link and is used for showing the selection of a node. This provides a user with visual feedback which selects a node surrounded by the outside.
