PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure superior water purifying function by integrating or mixing powder, granules or fine chips of a water activating ore or its ceramic with a resin such as PE or PP and forming a porous sintered body at a specified temp. SOLUTION: Powder, granules or fine chips of a water activating ore contg. di- and trivalent iron salts and repeating oxidation-reduction in the presence of contained carbon, e.g. phyllite and an ore contg. Th emittingα-rays, e.g. macrocrystalline granite as an optional component or powder of ceramics of the ores is mixed with a powdery synthetic resin such as PE or PP in a prescribed ratio. The resultant powdery mixture is filled into a metallic mold optionally after melting and it is molded under heating at 100-200 deg.C, especially about 160 deg.C and is cooled to obtain the objective sheet-shaped ceramic porous body having many fine through holes of about 100μm size. Since this porous body is floated on the top of water in a water tank because of its low specific gravity and can prevent the deterioration of the water, it is not necessary to exchange the water over a long period of time.
