PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the corrosion resistance, particularly, in intergranular corrosion, of a 6000 series aluminum alloy material. SOLUTION: An aluminum alloy having a compsn. contg. 0.5 to 1.2% Mg, 0.5 to 1.2% Si, 0.05 to 1.0% Cu and 0.2 to 1.0% Zn and preferably satisfying the Zn content (wt.%) >=0.5×Cu content (wt.%) +0.1 is subjected to heat treatment at 120 to 180 deg.C for 10min to 31.1hr and is subjected to age hardening. The material in which the potential difference between the matrix and precipitates is reduced to prevent intergranular corrosion and excellent in both of corrosion resistance and strength can be obtd.
