摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lengthen the service life of a furnace lining material, to hold the fluidity of slag and to smoothen the efficient operation by controlling the furnace temp. during the operation to a temp. as low as possible in the temp. of a little precipitated quantity of magnetite. SOLUTION: At the time of operating a melting furnace forming ferrite slag on the surface of the furnace body for copper smelting, etc., the furnace temp. is controlled at 1,210±10 deg.C and the fluidity of the slag is held to execute melting operation. This temp. control is executed with an optical temp. measuring method, and the measuring instrument provided with an optical temp. detector converting radiation beam of the high temp. molten material into a temp. value, expand and contract means 10 providing a rod 11 expanding/contracting toward the molten material for dipping/ pulling up the tip part of an optical fiber 40 into the molten material, an optical fiber incorporating means 20 for integrally shifting with the rod 11 and an optical fiber cutting-off means 30 fitted to the tip part of the expandable means, is used and the optical fiber 40 is repeatedly dipped into the molten material in each fixed time to continuously measure the temp. Then, the tip part of the optical fiber 40 lost by exposing to the high temp. is cut off with the cutting-off means 30 are every time of devitification.
