The air flow (F1), if being heated by a heat source (20), first flows through an evaporator (5) as part of a refrigerant circuit (CF) which also includes a compressor (4), a condenser (6) and at least one pressure reducing valve (9,10). The user can select one of three modes for the refrigerant circuit. An air conditioning mode, an additional heating mode or an inactive mode when fluid does not flow in the refrigerant circuit. The additional heating mode is only authorized when the temperature outside the vehicle is lower than a first limit, and the air conditioning mode is only authorized when the external temperature is greater than a second limit that is greater than the first limit. The inactive mode is implemented each time the mode selected by the user is not authorized.
